Comparing technology from today to “back in the day” say… fifty years ago is like comparing night and day. These two time periods are so different and unalike. The majority of individuals did not have checking accounts or major credit cards. Unlike modern technologies like the ATM machine or credit card machines, people used cash to pay for goods and services.

Fifty years ago, sending packages was done at the western union via money order that was sent via telegraph rather than through technology known as the computer system. Computers were used back then to calculate military and scientific calculations. Technology today has significantly evolved since then, with computers that are ten inches in size and can do a majority more. Cell phones did not exist fifty years ago and the home phone was a new and existing technology. The microwave was non existent and the a refrigerator was known as an ice box. Today technology has changed drastically where the refrigerator makes ice for you.

MRI screenings did not exist fifty years ago. The doctors office as a whole was a completely different experience. When entering a doctors office one would not see a desk with a computer and a secretary. Everything was written on paper and placed in filing order. Math was done long hand and never aided by calculator. The x-ray machines, color TV, CD players, IPods, and even color photos were no where in the near future. Technology has come so far since then, and has made fifty years seem like one hundred years.

Cloning would have been considered blasphemous fifty years ago and technologies promoting in vitriol fertilization would be shunned upon. Now a days cloning another person is normal and people that inject themselves with eggs have about multiple children. The field of science as a whole was completely different. There was no chemotherapy or radiation available for cancer patience. Cancer was not a well known disease fifty years ago and AIDS had no name. The Technologies of today have enabled humans to manipulate nature and make life more complicated.

Fifty years ago credit card debt didn’t exist and student loan debt didn’t either. However, due to technologies that promoted remote access to funds such as bank funds and government funds debt has accrued for many. Technology is an entity that promotes growth and change for everyone. Thinking back on how far humans have come due to technology it is mid boggling. Imagine a time where cell phones didn’t exist. A time when flat screens, blue ray, three d, DVDs, IMax theaters, and blue tooth didn’t exist. Due to technologies from every realm from food production to entertainment, the human race has evolved.
